Some tips and tricks about my WD My Book model WDF JK0040HBK-EESN I've come across
First of all the My Book isn't just a USB external hard disk. It comes with a security function (data protection) which can optionally be activated. If activated and after connecting the My Book to a USB port, access is only possible after providing the right credentials (i.c. password). Therefore there must be some kind of auto startup application. On a plane USB external HDD, this is not the case. This rises the question what wil happen when you replace the hard disk inside the My Book or when you which to use the My Book as a plain regular USB hard disk e.g. on a NAS.
My experience so far is that my My Book connected to my Fritz!Box 7360 USB port can't be mapped to a network drive (letter) on my Windows 10 PC. Let's investigate why and how to overcome this.
